My 05 GX (72k miles) was parked in the garage for a day and a half and today morning when I started the car, within first 5 seconds I heard a big metal grinding sound and it went away immediately (lasted around 3 seconds or so). I stood outside and started the car. Also I smelled some odor from engine bay. I opened the hood and looked around and after about 30 seconds or so that smell also went away.

What might have caused that loud noise and the smell?. I am using Castrol Edge 10w-30 and it is about 2k miles since last oil change. I am still under extended warranty (before hitting 75k miles). Any help/suggestion is appreciated.

very odd, maybe the starter? or could it be a pulley that is dying, and the bearings were making a bunch of noise?

those are my only two hypotheses.
