Default Xenons on First Gen GX

Came as a surprise that a 06 GX doesn't have factory xenons. Yes I know its cheap to get those aftermarket ones but still.

Do we know if 08-09 had em? I would love to get OEMs rather than aftermarket and wanted to throw it out there.

Thanks!

NO first Gen GX had xenons period!!! Aftermarket ones are great if you go with a good company! I have HIDS for my Lows and fogs through a vendor here xenondepot.com I have had them over a year with Zero issues--all plug and play and quality is top notch--I must say Customer service is FANTASTIC if you were to need anything. Steve from xenondepot will get you hooked up!!

Definitely use Xenon Depot kits. They are the best I've used out of all the kits I've bought online over the years. I put a set into our 2011 Sienna and man, they look so legit. =)
I plan on getting another set into my GX as well once I pick it up over the weekend.

I put them in my 2005 GX470. Low's and fogs. I bought the cheapest ones on ebay and they work ok.

The "official" pitch from Lexus at the time was that the GX was an off-road machine and xenon / hids weren't durable enough. I got that info from my pal who was a Lexus car salesman for a number of years.

While it might have been true to a certain degree, Lexus knew better than anyone else that most GXs won't see anything resembling hard core off roading much less any off roadng. I think it was more an issue of not wanting to update the GX mid-cycle. Lexus doesn't often add features mid-cycle choosing instead to ride it out until the new model arrives.

+1 on Xenon Depot kits.

Have had mine for almost 4yrs and 85k. Incidentally, I leave my headlights on all the time due to all the effing road construction and still going strong like day 1 [knock on wood - so I don't have to replace a bulb tomorrow]. Quality kit

I believe the reason that the gx, and the lx for that matter, didn't have hid's because lexus said that the height of the headlights combined with the brightness of the hids would be blinding to other drivers, at least this is what i was told

My new 09 GX doesn't have HID's. I thought it was weird that an expensive vehicle like this didn't have them. My 06 Ecalade has them though.

I guess I'll have to order some new HID's for the fogs and low beams.

Are there any pics of how HID's look on the GX?

I'll probably just run a search, but I figured I'd ask first.

Hey Guys,

Thank you for the support. Glad to hear you guys are enjoying your XenonDepot HID kits :-)

Kira X - Take a look at this page for pictures of our HID kits installed on Lexus vehicles. We have HID kit pictures kit installed in a Lexus GX460 and GX470.
