Do you use the running board?
I've had my '07 GX since new and have always used the running board to exit the vehicle. I just replaced the running board cap as it cracked (it was a pretty easy job, actually). It's easier on me to just slide off the seat (and not step on the running board) but I'm afraid it will cause premature wear on the leather on the edge of the seat.
Do you use the running board to exit or do you just slide off the seat onto the ground? If the latter, is it causing wear on your seat?

Ok. In case you're wondering I got the new step plate from Stevinson Lexus of Frederick for $123 including shipping. Retail is $160 plus shipping. The old one snaps off and the new one snaps right in. Took me all of 20 minutes.
I think I'll continue to use the running board to enter/exit; probably cheaper than repairing the leather seat. Thanks for your responses!

I use the running board and find it easier that way.
I'm not sure that it'll make wear on your leather any less since I've already replaced my leather seat on my 2004 suburban z71 and I use it's running boards, too.

I don't use the running board because I'm afraid they'll start to look gouged, scratched, scraped, and worn out.
I will pay attention to the leather condition on the seat because I figure that's probably a more expensive replacement than the running board!

My wife and my little one use the boards to get in. Myself and my older boy only use them to load and unload our skis and boards.
Could never care less about the impact to the seats from sliding or running boards from stepping on them.
