Default Buzzing noise behind glovebox at start up

Just lately, I noticed a buzzing noise emanating from the glovebox when my car starts up. It goes away probably in 20 secs or so, and it's very pronounced when the outside temp is hot.
When I was replacing my cabin filter, I found the source of the buzz. It's black box below the cabin air filter, to the right, with a 6-pin (?) molex. Can anyone tell me what this part is? See attached pic for identification.
Anyone experience this before?
Thanks guys.

it's a servomotor for your HVAC. It just needs to be replaced.

If you good at removing and servicing the part, good to go, as I had one behind my cluster and similar problem, The noise was bit loud, kinda whining noise at low decibel, and decided to open the stuff ( you will have to be carefull while splitting it ) and just use Electronic Circuit Spray ( preferable CRC ) and then the grease lightly the gears within and the motor also and have refit back, it is 22 months and till going fine. These are expensive if you buy them,if you out of warranty. Brand is Denso. the name is Mode Damper Servo Sub Assy

Thanks for all the comments. I was able to pull it out and order the servo assembly online. Youch, the cost was >$150!
I do not look forward to re-installing the replacement as you need very dexterous hands. The screw closest to the firewall took a bit of wrangling to undo. Thankful I had a right-angle screwdriver to get into the crevice.

Is there a write up thread or vid on how to get to this servo?.

Clearly I have the same issue.

What does it do exactly? What happens if I just disconnect?

2005 GX470

Thanks

I have not seen a YT video for changing any of the servo motors on the GX. It's the same part as used on many other Toyota/Lexus models, and the locations on the airbox will be pretty similar from model-to-model. You will need to remove the glovebox and the trim around it (there *are* videos on this) then find someone with small hands to get in there.

Thanks. I am screwed. I have big hands. I'll have to figure out a work around. I appreciate the info.

Does anyone know the part number for this servo? I'd rather have on on hand when I do this.

Thanks

Depends on which one has gone bad.

I have the same issue, by changing the wind flow using the climate control, the sound would disappear.

No problem getting the glove box out and locating the servo. I can't for the life of me even tell how its mounted.

My guess is there are two screws that go into the servo from the center firewall side. There is only an inch or two so I have no idea how to get them out.

Any suggestions?

The servo above the one circled in the first post of this thread is what was out on mine, maybe yours too? feel each servo when the buzzing sound occurs to single it out.

If it's the top servo, see below.

Read my last few posts from this thread (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...-glovebox.html), which also quotes a different thread with your part numbers.

Was a pain to remove, but definitely doable.

Thanks. The first thing I did when I removed the glove box was start the car and put my hand on that one that's circled. That's the one.

I unplugged it and am wondering what would happen if I just left it unplugged.

ok cool, not sure what that motor does but think it just changes the setting from outside air to recirculating? If that’s the case, nothing will happen when you push the button, so I assume no big deal really.

for me, the vibrating sound lasted a few months from the other servo above it, and eventually I lost the air from my center dash vents which was annoying while driving cross country in July. Not sure if same will happen to you, but at least they are easy to get to once you figure out how to remove and replace, and not needing to remove the entire dash like the dealer says
