Default 2007 GX470 70K, Price Question

Looking at a 2007 GX470 with 70,700 miles. Was really in the market for a RX350, but took this out for a drive. It has been on the lot since 5/2011, purchased by this dealership (which I like and trust) from another dealership about 50 miles away. Story is sales associate wanted it as his personal car, dealership bought it to help him and then he was let go and did not complete the transaction, so they've had it since May, 2011.

Even though Carfax says it's a one owner leased car, it's definitely been "used". There is only one original car mat (front passenger... missing all others). There are some scuffs/scratches on rear bumper in the paint (one fairly noticeable), but no dents. The metal Lexus plate on the inside of the drivers side door is a bit dinged/banged up. Also, a couple of stains on the carpet.

Dealership is asking $25,995 and says at that they are losing $1,500 and have NO room to negotiate. But I also know 2012 is just under 3 months away.

Haven't checked out the wheels/rims as just realized this is a problem.

What do you guys think is a fair price for this car?

I purchased my 1996 ES300 from them in 1999 with 55,000 miles and am still driving it and plan on keeping it for my son to have as his 1st car when he turns 16 in 5 years (will need brakes, tires, leather seats recovered and hoping the gaskets/seals will survive the stupid mistake I just made of putting synthetic oil in the engine).

Thanks in advance for help on the price on this car in the condition listed. Also if there are any other things I need to be on the lookout for as known problems, I'd love it if you brought it to my attention.

Keep in mind that at 90k miles, you will need a $800-$1200 service including timing belt and water pump. Price sounds fair, maybe borderline high. Is the vehicle a CPO? Has the dealer put any service into the vehicle to make it retail ready?

I wouldn't be too concerned with how long the vehicle has sat considering during the summer is pretty much the low buying time for these cars. With the winter starting to approach now, you will see sales (and prices) increase. I recently purchased an 04 GX that was also on the lot for 90+ days.

You may want to have a wholesaler inquire about the car on your behalf. Alot of times a car that has been in inventory this long has also made it's way out to a wholesale listing. If you can get the wholesale asking price then you really know what he dealership's bottom dollar is.

Here are some other common problems you can google; steering wheel vibrations 50-80mph, prop shaft clunk at stop, spider cracks in dashboard, pitted wheels, worn seat leather, yellowed over headlights, rear suspension level issues. Not sure if all these are applicable to a 2007 but more specific to 1st gens in general.

Good luck!
