Hey guys,
I have about 117k right now and just wondered if you guys changed any of the differential, transfer case or transmission oil from the GX?
I've had the car since 109k and have taken it off-road a number of times (8 hours straight one time in some rugged terrain and 100+ degrees) and it is my daily driver (about 300+ miles a week). I am not exactly sure if the person I bought the truck from even had any of these fluids changed besides the typical oil change, etc.
Some people told me the tranny fluids never have to be changed at all.
Just wanted to be on the safe side and see what your thoughts are on this.

just changed front, rear and transfer case at 113K the other day, amsoil 75w-90 severe gear, transmission fluid was probably changed prematurely at 65,000 so i will wait until close to 165K to change that, toyota uses a synthetic that has a 100K life supposedly.

Change them. You could never go wrong by changing out fluids. If you don't want to do them both at the same time I would change the front, rear diff. and transfer case first, then the transmission. I just bought my 2005 GX and the other owners had changed the front & rear diff fluid twice with in the first 60K.

Mercedes made that mistake about 12 years ago, when they called tranny fluid "lifetime fill" and instead of dipstick they used plastic lock cap.
5 years later, they quickly removed the phrase from owner's manuals back to 60K miles changes requirements for synthetic fluid but it was too late for many transmissions and owners already out of warranty.
I bought my ML with broken transmission at 130K miles on it because previous owner believed them and never had the fluid replaced.
Heat and moisture condensation are the biggest enemies for the fluids.
I just checked my records, all fluids replaced first at 49 then at 125K miles.
Time for me to do them asap, since I'm at 258K on the clock now.
Do you guys have any good recommendations for certain oils or should I get the OEM at dealer?
I do used only OEM stuff on my Mercedes and I prefer to be safe than sorry.
