Changed the spark plugs. Looked like they probably had 100k miles on them. The center and outer platinum electrode parts still looked pretty good, but the gap had clearly grown from standard.
cleaned out the air intake box while I had it out. Had a good coating of dirt and grunge inside.
More pics to come, but finally got the KO2s installed today!! Need to put the spacers on for sure. Also got a free rooftop basket from a family member, just resprayed it and put it on. It's a little small for the GX but it'll do for now.
Discount Tire actually. They took $10 off each one so I got a bit of a deal. Comes in a couple colors.

what offset did you get the -6 or 10? Also what tire size are you running I plan on doing the 265/70/17

I don’t remember offset. I’ll try and check the receipt to see if it shows it. I went with 265/70/17 as well.
I got wheels, tires, warranties and pretty much everything for $1800 or so. They took off disposal fee since I was keeping the old ones.

You did this mod back in June. How has it been working since?
I am about to tear into mine to do new injectors, and I will replace the air hoses and to inspect the main valve and air pump (but not replace any valves or air pump). Where possible, I will fully disassemble the air pump and main valve to inspect/clean/lubricate, etc.
I'm 2 days and about 7 hours into cleaning up the rust and scaling on the frame of my GX470. Back in the spring I put my thumb through the bottom of the passenger side frame rail by accident, and knew the time had come to address the rust under the truck.
Monday I headed out to the garage after work, and put in 5-6 hours under the truck with a needle scaler I borrowed from a buddy. What a cool tool! Knocks the old paint/powder coating off pretty easily, leaving surface rusted, but clean metal to work with. VERY messy job, and my hands and wrists are still pins and needles 2 days later! It would have been a lot bigger job without this tool though, there's no chance I'd have done as nice a job with a scraper and wire brush.
Yesterday after work I headed back out and blew all the dust off the surfaces I'd be working on, then applied a rust converting primer, what a neat product! Turned all the orange surface rust into black with a powdery white surface, ready to paint over.
So the plan is after work today to get back under there and apply the top coat, it's a POR15 type product from KBS, the same company that makes the rust converter primer.
It's been VERY difficult to decide where to stop on this project...the rust underneath is everywhere, all the suspension links, the rear axle, the lower edge of the body up above the running boards, etc. This time around I'm concentrating on the frame. I do have a small can of silver top coat, at some point in the future I may revisit this and clean up the lower edge of the body, suspension links, and rear axle in the same way, but for now this is more than enough.
4th pic you can see on the right all the scale, on the left the scale has been cleaned up by the needle scaler.
5th pic is a section after needle scaling, 6th is the same section after the rust convertor was applied and dried.
After all the work on the rust and conversion, thing about coating it with an epoxy-primer, then topping it off with some rubberized undercoat stuff. The tricky part is all the inside places you can't really get to.
Had the Aisin TKT-021 Timing and Water Pump kit installed with all new hoses, Thermostat , Serpentine and Antifreeze. On my 08 with 144,000 on it with no record of it ever being done. I bought everything and let a good garage install it for $477 labor. They took it for a one heck of a test drive!
Got the frame-on resto finished last night, what an awful job. I've got about 12 hours into it at this point, and my entire garage is coated in red dust I need to clean up still. I'm hoping the dust will allow me to knock the drips off the garage floor, this stuff is hard as a rock once it dries.
