Vaistech iPod integration - where'd you run your cables?
Hi everyone,
I've got a 2007 GX470 (with Nav and ML) and I'm considering installing one of the Vaistech iPod integration products. While I know the installers can take care of the unit itself, I'm wondering where to run the iPod-out cable itself - into the glovebox? The center console? Somewhere else?
Any suggestions from those who may have already done something similar?

I installed a VaisTech last summer in my GX - it's not a bad DIY but nothing wrong with having a pro installer do it either. I ran the iPod cable into the glove box - since the VaisTech let's me control everything from the radio/steering wheel controls I didn't see any need to put it in the center console & take up that space. No holes or cutting on the car this way - everything can be put back to 100% original if I ever wanted to. There's plenty of room to snake the cable down the inside of the dash and into the glove box from the back and it doesn't interfere with the glove box closing, etc

I went with the SLI2-UP - I only wanted to be able to use an iPod instead of being limited to the 6 CD changer. I had an old iPod Mini that wouldn't hold much of a charge anymore - it works great in the car as the VAIS unit supplies power.. I was especially impressed with the quality of the cables that come with the VAIS, and the setup has worked flawlessly.
I would decide based on what things you want to interface with the factory sound system - if you get the features you want, a year from now you won't even remember the exact cost if your GX has what you want - if you don't get what you want it will bug you every time you get in your car! (just my opinion). VaisTech gets top marks for good quality products.

I went with other model which $10 cheaper and works just as well.
