Default how long did your rotors last?

i have 120,000 miles on my original rotors. new pads at about 80,000 miles and dealer resurfaced rotors at that time. just want to see how long these rotors can last?

love my gx...going strong without any issues.

I thought I was getting close to the record with original rotors at pads at 60,000 miles. I used to have a lead foot, fastest from point A to point B. Eats up gas and brakes. I don't have a lead foot with this vehicle. You must do a lot of freeway driving to have that many miles on original rotors (less braking) and no towing.

Rotors and pads are not that expensive, unless you have them replaced at the dealer. At 120,000 miles, you are out of warranty and can go anywhere for that work when needed. Knowing that I will start another debait with this forum, for you, I would consider "original equipment manufacturer" OEM. I know that Toyota out sourses their parts/ brakes, but I would start getting prices at Toyota dealers. I would also go out and buy lotto tickets, because you are also lucky.

There is a minimum thickness to the rotors. Once you reach that point, you can't turn them anymore for safety, they will overheat. You must be starting to feel something in the brake pedal now, when stopping, to be asking this question. Don't cheap out, everybody sells brake parts. You don't have to overpay at Lexus. You can go Toyota and get prices. You can still go back to Lexus and see if they will match or come close to that price.

Meanwhile mine were dealer cut @ 55K and were warped within 10K miles.

And I would echo the above, I used to drive like a bat out of hell but have since calmed down alot

I have a real hard time believing this story. Even 1 set of brake pads lasting 80K miles seems unlikely, never mind 120K miles on rotors.

The probably stoppped being safe a long time ago.

I don't think he meant that those were the first set of pads at 80,000, just saying that the rotors were resurfaced then when he pads were changed. No way anyone gets that mileage on pads in a truck unless they never get off the highway.

My original pads from my '07 GX have 60K on them and I'm told by the Toyota dealer, there's plenty of pad left. Not sure I'll make 80K but will probably make it to 70K. Why? I'm light on brakes coasting to most stops, i don't drive in the city type of stop and go, I've taken my rig across country 3x so many miles are non-braking highway miles.

it's real...and now i have 123,000 miles. not getting any vibrations either.

no need to keep pushing the brakes on this truck...i will get them done when i go in for the next oil change.

my dad had a mitsubishi 4x4 truck back in 1990 and he went over 100,000 miles on original brakes and even tires. yes tires were bald but he made it over 100,000. they were some kind of AT yokohama tires.

Did replaced my original brake pads at around 50K miles and it had about a little less than half the material remaining. I estimate it would have gone another 20-30K miles at least. Mix of highway and local driving, moderately aggressive. I was replacing my tires and doing a brake fluid flush, so I figured I'd just replace the pads as well since they aren't that expensive. Rotors are still fine now at 75K, although I feel slight pulsation.

Hate to make a new thread so I will ask here. Any good rotor suggestions? I need to replace my fronts. But the OEM are super expensive like $110 a piece, about $264 on Sewell Parts unless I am looking in the wrong place. If OEM are the way too go I hope some one has a good link on better prices. I see aftermarket ones for $100 or so a pair but I have been deterred from that route.

Autohausaz is a good place. I've used them way back in my Audi days. I like them!

I've always liked Brembo branded rotors. You can't go wrong with them.
Also, i've had good luck with PowerStop rotors.

It really depends how good (aggressive) your brake pads are. Make sure you invest in some high quality brake pads. I personally like HAWK HPS or LTS. Better than OEM when it comes to stopping power and rotor life.

Btw, my original front rotors on the GX470 had 107k miles when i replaced them, due to excessive steering vibration. The maintenance records showed that they were resurfaced twice since the truck was new.

With the new rotors and Hawk pads, the Lexus now stops so much better.

Thanks guys. I already bought the OEM pads and of course know Brembo well. I just did not think they made regular rotors.
