How to find out if my GX 470 is Factory Wired for brake controller
Hi All,
I have a 2006 GX 470. How do I find out if my car has or does not have Factory Wiring for brake controller (trailer hitch)?
Thanks.

There would be a wire pigtail in the glovebox for connecting a brake controller. There will also be a small square plug on the dash below the steering wheel that the pigtail would plug into. You will also have a 7pin connector on the rear of the vehicle.

Here is a web site that decodes the GX vin number

Not sure if this will give enough information

You are right, that was a lame/ generic decoder. I believe, at least on the 08, all of the wiring harnesses in the trucks are the same. The wiring is there, whether they wired a 7 pin connector, you have to look up under the bumper to see. Mine was actually wired, with the 7 pin connector factory installed, and that was enerigized. I did not have any hitch. The wires and connector for a brake controller is there as well, taped to the steering wheel. Some (other years) have had to install relays under the hood, to get the wiring harness energized at the rear.
