I am looking to buy a 2007 GX470 from a dealer. It has 74,000 miles on it. I was wondering if I should purchase the Lexus Platinum Extended Warranty with this car? 3 Yr/36,000 = $ 3,000.

I bought a used 2005 GX470 with 73k miles about 3 weeks ago. Lexus dealership offered me a 4yrs/50k miles Platinum level for 4150.00. We would probably hit the 4yrs before we hit the 50k miles since we will be using the GX for weekend/family trips only.
There are cheaper aftermarket VSA you can buy if you really need to have it. I bought the service agreement from Lexus knowing that I have 30 days to review it and decide whether to keep it or cancel it for full refund minus $25.00 processing fee, it varies by state. I think I would cancel it. The truck was maintained very well by previous owner and it looks like they took great pride of it, so I am confident the possibility of 4k problem is low.
From what I gathered, the decision to buy a VSA is a personal matter based on your risk tolerance. Remember, every car is different.
Oh yeah...Lexus VSA is only available at point of sale. You can't go back weeks later and decide to buy it.
Good luck.
