Called Lexus about replacing my 4 year old battery. Even with the 84 month warranty, it would have been $120 for a replacement (prorated after second year).

Got a Duralast Gold battery from Autozone for $112 out the door and it comes with 3 year free replacement (as opposed to the 2 year free replacement from Lexus). It's prorated for 5 years after that.

 

What kind of battery was it? The Toyota LandCruiser/Lexus comes with a Panasonic battery that you can't buy in the US, they are best batteries anywhere. Life span is a minimum of 7 years, I have seen it at least 3 times.

 

is your car, stereo/audio, lights etc etc completely stock? this could be an arguement on lexus ' behalf. they could say that the battery is only designed for stock anticipated loads and such. also, there is such a thing as battery maintenance and that could be applicable in this situation?

 

I think mine is till OEM (Panasonic). Mine once drained fast (turn off eng while leave the light and stereo on) and was jumped twice. I checked the bettery eye. It turned RED. Refilled with destilled water. It turned back to normal BLUE eye. This battery is maintainable. Check the eye before replace it.

 

The previous owner purchased the battery in July 2008 (vehicle is 2004). Not sure what happened to the original battery, but the one that was in there was a Lexus 84 month warranty battery - not sure who manufactured it.

I was mostly frustrated because I thought that an 84 month battery would have more than a 2 year free replacement policy, particularly a Lexus battery. The service manager never tried getting out of replacing the battery (I called her on the phone, not in person). She just asked me the age of the battery and then told me it was out of the free replacement window and it would be roughly $120 with the prorated rate. She said a new battery runs about $200.

 

My '04 with 50K miles still has the OEM (Panasonic).

 

Is that the same battery as the one I'm referencing? Does

 

well into the 9th year on the factory panasonic battery and it still starts up fast in the cold, nice battery for factory issue, rank it up there with optima batteries at the very least...

 

Our Panasonic battery is still going strong on our '07 GX w/103k miles. A few issues with it being drained a couple times, but after charging it with a battery charger it's back to normal.

 

My 2006 Lexus IS350 battery crapped out since Monday in our cold Chicago winter. It's got about 55,000 miles on it and it started to give me signs of difficult starts. Eventually to the point that for the past 3-days I needed a boost from a co-worker. Even when parked outside for another 45-minutes, I needed another boost.

Technically speaking, the car is 80 to 81 months into it's warranty period. March 2014 is when it would officialyl expire. I'm not surprised that it's lasted this long, almost 7-whole winters, but still disappointed to read that I wouldn't get a replacement battery, rather have to pay out prorated amount for replacement. Which I expected to be a lot from a dealership.

Eitherway, I've purchased an Optima Redtop from Amazon and two days later had it delivered. Installed it, with a little trial and error, and got everything to work. Let's hope it starts up tomorrow after work...

 

Every lexus battery we've had has lasted at least 7 years. I had one that lasted for 2 years and they replaced it with a brand new Lexus one for free

 

My factory battery lasted 7yrs. / 100K+ miles. I replaced it with a Duralast Gold.

EDIT: Sorry forgot I had an '05 , so 8yrs. / 100K+ miles. I replaced it back in May '13.

 

My 06 GX OEM battery lasted 8 years and just had to be replaced in the last couple months. While the stock batteries are expensive, they last far longer than other brands as others have said here.

 

I had the original factory battery in my 05 GX in service for about 8 1/2 years until I replaced it a couple of months ago. I wasn't having any issues with starting and I probably could have squeezed another year out of it, but, going into the winter, replacing it now seemed like the prudent thing to do.

 

My 2004 GX470 has an 84-month Lexus battery. No maintenance record on 'mylexus' to indicate the battery has ever been changed. It was -4F yesterday and the GX started just fine. Where does it say Panasonic on the original battery? I don't see any brand markings other than Lexus 84-month. The year and date circles are not punched out, so I can't tell when the battery was installed. Is the PANASONIC brand easy to see with the battery mounted in the car?
