O2 sensors
Anyone here replace their O2 sensors, 89465A. Dont mind the 89465, theyre are the same part just different number. Lexus said 89465 is their old part number and they didnt remove it from their system. I told them I knew I wasnt crazy, theres only 2 sensors per side.
Do I need a special tool to remove the sensor? I took a look at it and it doesnt look like I do. Sometimes the socket has a slot for the plug to to through but the plus is at the end. I looks like I just need a oepn end box wrench.
Just wanted to make sure though....

I've replaced the pre-cat ones and definitely needed the O2 removal tool (open socket w/ crow foot). No way possible to get at it w/ a box wrench. Not sure about post cat though but looks like you might be able too.
Either way, Advance Auto (maybe also others?) has an O2 loaner tool kit program... you buy for $30 and if returned w/in 30day you get full refund. It includes 3 different options. Also, you can replace w/ a Bosch or Denso (basically OEM) O2 available at parts store. I wouldn't go w/ any off brand but I used Bosch and have been fine for 25k+ miles.
Good luck

I dont have any codes but Im getting terrible gas mileage (10-11mpg all city) and someone said maybe its the O2 sensors. I have just over 100K miles and Ive recently replaced the air filter, cleaned the MAF sensor. All of the fluids, other than the trans, have been replaced within the last 15K miles. The only things I can think of that havent been replaced are the spark plugs and the O2 sensors. I dont expect to get great gas mileage but 10-11mpg is not acceptable.
Any other ideas?
EDIT: I went ahead and ordered the upstream O2 sensors from Sewell this afternoon. I hope that helps.......
