Default which coil springs for rear?

I want to swap air bags for coils. Any ideas which coils would be ideal? I was thinking to get oem coils from one of the gx's cousins.
fj weighs 4295
4runner weighs 4530
Gx weighs 4871
I have the bilstein 5100's for an fj installed right now. I want to keep stock height. I was originally going to put fj coils that have 1"lift and assume it will keep it level somewhat.

I would like to know this as well. I want to swap out the air bags. Anyone have a link to a complete rebuild?

hey chrisvr6,
well rcsgs is a high roller with baller status so of course he will stay oem and pay to play... but i have 3 cars that i maintain myself so when possible i would fix it once and for all and for good so i would go ahead and accept the 1-2" lift with old man emu springs (as long as i can still fit the truck in my garage), got to home depot and have them fab me the fastener, then put them in myself... but man777 also brought up the possibility of maintaining the airbag pillar so the spring can be put in that way with the old system minus the bag... it's all been done but no one with actual experience is posting info so the rest you just have to go on instinct... gl

LOL, clubsport you got me confused with ROK.

If someone finds a way to keep the stock ride height or at the most 1" lift, I'll be all over it but Im not being the guinea pig. Most people that have gone w/ springs on their GX have lifted their GX about 3". Im not looking to lift my GX at all, so I have no choice but to stay with stock. Id rather not stay with stock because $2K in parts for stock suspension is outrageous!

Theres always Aarnot industries, they claimed they teamed up with Bilstein to make a GX specific shock. http://www.arnottindustries.com/part...d7_pid141.html. Id trust them the most out of all of the other GX spring / shock kits. I remember back in the days alot of Cadillac guys using their stuff and being happy with the quality.

The ome895e's supposedly lift a 4runner 1". Should we do these or stock 4runner/fj which are $50 apiece?

Nobody is going to be able tell you 100% what will work because nobody has used those springs. Our guess is as good as yours. You might have to buy 2 sets (maybe more) of springs to get the ride height correct, thats part of the game when youre doing something nobody has done before. You can always sell the springs you dont use to some 4Runner guys.

the only reason i would do ome is because of quality... i never ever want to deal with the coils wear and tear if possible so i can take the small lift, seems like coils will wear out after some time and usage...

Cool thanks. I'll probably get two sets and try to return one after testing.

great chrisvr6, let us know how it turns out...

also, the only reason i really would do coils xchange for bags is because of diagnosis problem... is it the shock? is it the bag? is it the sensors?... when my truck goes screwy in the back... i will replace both the shocks and airbags with ome sets and trick the sensors for a permanent fix... otherwise i would seriously stay oem/factory setup as i think oem is always best...

I know once you find the perfect combo alot of other guys will follow your lead, maybe including myself! Good luck.

I'm looking at the Raybestos 5891135 professional grade rear coil springs made for the 04 4Runner 4WD 4.7L. They are $40 for the pair on Amazon and should work. My only question is what to use for brackets to hold the bottom of the springs in place on the axle as to keep the springs from shifting? Also if a rubber bump stop insert is needed? Anyone try this yet? The Arnott spring conversion seems too pricey for basically the same springs.
