Default First Trip with "new to me" gx to dealership

My wife and I purchased a 2007 GX it now has 36k miles on it.
We have made an appointment for Thursday.

I want to get the clunk fixed (i have a copy of the tsb) to take with me

I am also gettting an oil change as part of the 35k miles service.

I called and spoke to someone to make the apt but apparently they are only a secretary for the dealership, not the service dept.

I just was wondering what to expect when I get there Thursday?
Does Lexus give you a vehicle to drive while you wait?

I am using Lexus of Jacksonville, Fl. anyone have any experience with them or other Lexus dealerships?
Thanks.

if they pull up on screen that you bought the car from them then for sure you will get a loaner lexus... depends on how important of a customer you are and availability of loaners but from what you are saying then you should be getting a loaner...

I always had to request one, and if they didn't have one that day, I would reschedule the service.

call back and request one and they shouldn't have too much of a problem accomodating you. if you request one that day there is a chance they might all be spoken for by other customers.

They'll take good care of you. Customer service is their motto.

However, if you end up paying for anything, it won't be cheap.

10 to 1 they tell you they've either never heard of the clunk or you're the only one. With the TSB in hand, you'll likely to get satisfaction assuming you can reproduce it. Don't let them try to duplicate it on their own; you'll be guaranteed to hear they couldn't duplicate it. Take their tech for a ride.

I know normally with the dealerships you can request a loaner vehicle if it will be an extended service. Depending on their work load, they normally would not do it for an oil change, the most common and quickest service done to the cars, but since you are having more work done than that just ask and they should give it to you!

Just tell the SA you are a first time customer and he will make sure you come back for future maintenance on your GX.

I just wanted to give and update and say that Lexus of Jacksonville, Florida was great to work with today.

i got the new drive shaft put on under warranty, as well as had the oil changed.

I noticed they put synthetic oil in the GX, did these units come with synthetic oil?

I even got a shuttle for my family to the local mall and was picked up when the GX was ready.

Thanks everyone. I look forward to learning more.

Can I ask you guys if I should try to get this driveshaft fixed on my 04?

I don't really notice any clunks or bumps in the drive but I want my girl to last and the longer I wait, the less likely I feel like the dealership will fix it for me.

How willing are the dealerships to do this kind of fix today (as of June 2012)?

If you don't notice it, it's probably already been done...

TSB mean Technical Service Bulletin. Normally issue by the manufacturer itself.
