Matsui: How is the rust (under-carriage and otherwise) on the vehicles from that area? How is it on yours? Do you do anything special to keep yours clean?

Thanks.

...well then buy them if they're such a good deal!

To the OP, you don't get the 07 for $22k and then get $17k for your '04, they have to maintain the gap. Prices vary by region too, and in parts of the Midwest and along the East Coast cars definitely sell for less than they do here out west. I agree with the earlier comment about keeping what you have until you decide on a significant upgrade. Landcruiser/LX?

We're just south of the border where it doesn't snow much except once in a while.
The rust is not a major issue in our area and my GX seems to be in good shape in this regards.

Although, when I was searching for GX last year I came across some which were heavily rusted. I guess it also depends on how the previous owner took care of it and whether it stayed outside or in the garage.

Just flipped the Lexus @ a Jeep dealership on a 2012 Grand Cherokee. Final trade in deal was for $16,200 -- by far the best offer I got. Back to jeepforum I go, enjoyed my brief stay here... just wish the Lexus parts were a little less expensive.

The new WK2 Jeeps, IMO are very nice. I had a WK Jeep and this blows it away. The 300hp 23mpg V6 has alot to offer...

Dealer listed my GX for $19,999 -- which is more then I paid for it one year ago w/ 15k miles less. LINK

There's plenty of life in your 04'. It would be impractical to trade for the same. IMO of course.

I have always negotiated the price of the vehicle that I'm buying after the dealer has given me their "top-dollar" price for my trade-in. At least get one number situated, and go from there. It doesn't matter if they offer you $10 bucks for your trade-in, if you can pay $18 for theirs.. essentially, it's always about that difference that either you are owed or most likely owe them.
