Default Hello from another new owner

Hi all, I just picked up an 07 GX470 with 49k for my wife. She previously owned an 06 Merc R350 and has always wanted a GX, but finding them for a decent price with low miles is very difficult in Houston, TX. It is silver with dark grey leather, heated seats, no NAV, and adjustable air suspension. I am trying to get adjusted to the names of the options since it is our first non-german car.

I am a pretty good wrench after being a BMW owner for 22 years. In addition to the GX470, I have an 03 x5, 04 M3, and a 95 M3 track car. I have been lurking on the board to research the GX and I see that alot of you all are DIY'ers and I really think that is cool. I hope to learn more about the GX from you all.

Congratulations! The GX is very clean. You and your wife are gong to love it. Have fun. And, yes, this site is great for all manner of help with the vehicle.

Congradulations, welcome to the forum, looks just like my 08. Your wreches may get a little dusty, waiting to work on the Lexus. If you don't have one, get a sun shield for that front window. Other owners have complained of dash board cracks.

Yes, that is my hope that this car will be less maintenance intensive than my German ones. That leaves more fun money for my track/autocross habit

Finding a GX without NAVi is huge in my book. Your audio system is not at all tied to any climate control functions, so just incase you decide to upgrade, or have a failure, it'll be real cheap to upgrade. I was looking for a non-nav unit without a third row for two years and finally gave up.

You won't need your wrenches for a long time.

Enjoy the new ride.

Dont u just love Carmax now!!!! We bought a car from them and it was honeatly the best experience ever. Make sure you take advantage of your 30day window. The wish fix/replac anything that is wrong or needs to be replaced including new tires if needed. We were able to have a lil over $4k in work done and it was like new. Driver seat warmer and lumbar bags replaced all new tires and some wood trim pieces.

Enjoy the new ride... One of my fav SUVs out there

Interior is the dark grey. I like it much better than the beige especially with kids.

So far besides the Alternator pooping out it has been great. Not used to having a vehicle that is so quiet.

Merc reliability has been fair. Blown rear airbag, bad Navi screen, and a knock sensor.
BMW has needed more maintenance but more fun to drive.

Welcome.

Love our GX, and we are a German car family too. Also hoping for less maintenance long term!
