Anyone know what I might give up if I go with an aftermarket DVD player?

Perhaps what I might gain? What should I look for? Thanks

 

Are you sure that the aftermarket system won't integrate into the ML sounds system?

My dealer tells me that the GX comes "pre-wired" for the Rear Entertainment and that they (dealer) will be prepared to install. The cost however will be considerably higher than the factory installed option ($1500 factory vs $2700 dealer). He was unable to verify if the system would be the same (he believes that it will NOT be identical to the factory - it might be superior - who knows?) nor explain why the difference in cost. Presumably both will play through the front screen as long as the transmission is in park and the emergency brake is on. If that is the case it must (?) be playing through the ML system (or standard system if that is what is in your vehicle.

 

I'm told the price would be the same. The system would be going through the ML system for audio, however video on the upfront monitor, not sure about.
