Has anyone given thought to re-locating the oil filter? I did the oil change and the longest part of this was dealing with the front skip plate that needed to be removed. Just wondering if anyone has given this some thought or better yet done it.

You don't need to remove the entire skid plate. It's actually really easy to change the oil on GX470

Oil plug: - remove the plastic cover to drain the oil
Oil filter: - remove 4(?) screws on the back of the skid plate. Once removed, the skid plate will swing down. At this point you can remove the filter easily.

Guess that was my mistake lol I will take another stab at during the next oil change.

I didn't have to remove the skid plate though... On my 08 GX (and I assume on other years as well), skid plate can stay in place and just swing down. There are clever hooks on each side of the skid plate that let it swing.
