Pics of Differential and Transfer Case Fluid after 63k miles

I changed the fluids on my GX without jacking it up at all. It's roomy under the rear diff area. For the transfer case, slide in under the passenger side, middle of the truck. For the front diff, I slid in under the left front bumper - a little tight in there but there was enough room to operate my ratchet and oil bottle with hand pump.
The most awkward operation to me was trying to get at the 2 grease zerks on the back of the front prop shaft. I held the grease gun nozzle on the zerk with one hand while my 16 year old squeezed the trigger. It wasn't pretty, but it worked...

If so, does it require a different diff fluid? Typically you use different fluid for limited slip...

I believe we do, but the addition additive is becoming obsolete now that synthetics are becoming the standard.

Yes, we have limited slip differentials. My '05 owners manual calls for GL-5 fluid for the diffs and the transfer case. The Mobil 1 75W90 meets the specs, and I'm sure many other brands do too.

That's the center diff though, not the rear diff. It's the same unit used in the Audi Quatro AWD systems center diff, it just allows uneven torque split to the front and rear axles, the effect is not the same as it if was in the front or rear diff, althought technically you could still call it an LSD.

The "center" differential is NOT the front or rear differential, neither of which is described in that link. I think Ianb2 has it nailed.

Attached is the paragraph from my '05 owners manual. The original question was whether we need a different fluid due to the LSD. The Mobil 1 75W90 literature states: Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75W-90 exceeds the most severe service requirements in both conventional and limited slip applications. I take that to mean that it works for the GX.
