This is the message I received from Lexus-Parts.com. They had forwarded a direct message from someone at Toyota motor corp.



The system is ONLY installed at the factory for this specific car. If the customer does not get the system at the time of purchase, then there is no accessory system to install. The car will not come wired for a system otherwise. The LX 470 however has an accessory system that can be installed at the dealer.

What if the a car (that has the DVD system) gets into an accident and the wires for the DVD are cut?

What happens? There must be a replacement part for everything.

He sent another message which I am waiting for a response on.

I really don't mean to be a pain as I know the 'xxxx Boys' always seem to be, but our customers are very persistent and don't always accept our initial answer. What if the a car (that has the DVD system) gets into an accident and the wires for the DVD are cut? What happens? There must be a replacement part for everything.

My GX470 is going to be delivered on Friday. Dealer said it has every option except for the rear DVD. Does that mean it will show up with a rear spoiler? I doubt it. I think there is difference between the "factory" options and "dealer" options. Isn't the rear spoiler a "dealer" option?

The six hour estimate is completely bogus. I am telling you they installed my spoiler (Sewell Lexus in Ft.Worth Texas) in about 30 minutes (the service manager said that once they do a few of them it will take about 15-20 minutes - this was thier first one). They charged me $551 including installation. It is a genuine Lexus part included in the purchase price.

I totally agree with you about 6 hours being a "Complete Ripoff". I also agree with you that you buy the vehicle whereever you can get it the earliest time and with the best price (unfortunately at this time that means list). I will not have my GX serviced at the dealearship that I bought it from because it is located 60 miles from home.

I hope there are other dealers that you can work with for service that will be more accomadating and that do not practice blatant price gouging.
