Default air suspension

Has anyone noticed their truck "adjusting" after they turn it off? Is this normal? My GX seems to drop down after I've exited the truck. I hear it and see it. Anyone else?

Ditto, I've noticed the same thing after I stopped it.

This is a feature of the air suspention as documented in the owners manual. When you cut off the truck, the suspention lowers the rear (and not the front, only the rear has the air suspention) automatically to ease loading and unloading. You will also notice about 30 to 45 seconds after you start up, the suspention will relevel itself (you will hear the sound of the air compressor). If you wish to observe this active suspention directly, just crank up and go stand on the back bumper (if helps if you weigh over 100 lbs), in 25 to 20 seconds, the back will level itself......cool!!

Default New Rear Air Suspension Conversion Kit from strut master

I found this website I am sure that a lot of people saw this website. I would like to know if anybody installed this kit.

Here is the link http://www.strutmasters.com/Lexus-GX.../-gx470-r1.htm

If you already install this kit, then I would like to know how does it feel in terms of is stiff or too soft, or you didnt feel the difference?

My ride is fine for now, after I replaced two sensors on both sides. I am thinking more long term. I hate air suspension. Thats the only thing I dont like about my car. It drives too soft.

I have an 04' that just turned 60K miles. It has one front leaking and 1 rear starting to leak. I am also thinking about going to the Strutmasters on the rear. My question is what can you do about the front? Also, I am assuming this does away with the "ride sensor" control and "lift/lower" features. Would like to know what my options are.

I called strut master today and they said this kit fits perfectly. You have to remove air pump for sure, I forgot to ask about sensors.

Followed the link and read the article. Something's not right, I thought the GX470 model started in 2003?

Dear Friend,

If you're reading this letter, then the air suspension system on your Lexus GX 470 has finally failed and you need a cost effective solution to get that new car ride again and get your GX 470 back on the road fast.

I was in your shoes more than 10 years ago and I scrambled to find a way to get my luxury car riding like new again without breaking the bank in the process. Unfortunately, the only option I had was to pay a fortune to a dealership to fix my air suspension. I was outraged...so I developed a solution to solve your air suspension problems for good.

So in 1999, I spent many grueling months developing the first air to non-air conversion kit to replace failed air suspension systems. Today, I have helped thousands of savvy people like you, quickly and easily replace their air suspension and end their suspension problems forever, while saving them a boat load of money in the process.

I think the first car that had serious problem was Range Rover. My neighboor and I changed his struts from air suspension to regular. It was very easy to do.

Lightbulb Air Suspension Problems or Questions

FYI...I had problems with the air suspension on my 2004 GX470. At first I thought it was the ECU that controls the air suspension (Part #89293-60031) especially since both the right & left side were causing problems but it wasn't which would have been an easy fix.

The problem was the height control sensors for both the left & right rear. I had no choice but to get it fixed at the dealer. Part cost was about $450 each & labor/misc about $275 - total $1,175. I know it was crazy to pay that much but the guy who regularly fixes my car on the cheap couldn't figure the problem out.

If you have a good repair guy & have a similar problem, the part numbers are 89407-60022 (right rear sensor) & 89408-60011 (left rear sensor). I think different online part sites for Lexus shows the parts listed for about $290 each.

I didn't save any money but I hope this information will be helpful to someone & save him or her a lot of $$$$.

Thanks for the info. What was the symptom of the problem?
