Has anyone figured out specifically which two wires need to be cut, their exact locations on the multi display/radio Navigation unit and then which one has to be grounded to simulate the parking brake? I found great detailed instructions lucated at this link

for the 2002 LX470 but upon examination the wires and plug locations are different on the 2003 GX470. I installed and found a great wood dash kit that is spectacular. The website is:

Does anybody have an all OEM aftermarket accessories list. We should exchange ideas and compile one. I started with the best wood kit I found yet. Lets see some more OEM aftermarket accessories postings and information.

The OEM wood kit I installed covers all the other areas that the factory just left with plastic; there were 35 pieces on dash, all driver panels, etc. Look at the placement diagram at the Exotic Dash website. The website is:

On the gx 470 screen there are 4 plugs A B C D on plug b (14 pin plug ) there is the speed pulse wire on pin #5 violet red that is interrupted and pin #13 light green that is the e brake wire that gets interrupted and ground the side going to the screen. This works as on the 470 as I have done it and tested it today! Just send me $10.00 and i will be happy.

I also had figured that out a week and one half ago and have been driving my GX470 The passangers have been able to watch movies while driving for ten days with no problems.

If this mod works, isn't it also allows you to play with the Navigation without having to stop the car? That would be nice.

Currently, the Nav won't let you make route changes if the car is not fully stopped... a bit annoying.

Of course there are some tricks you can do to "re-program" the NAV while moving...specifically - if you have "marked points" or can find a destination/intersection etc , then you can use the touch screen to find/select this point and then hit enter and it will re-route to it. Certainly not as convenient but I've done it several times and it helps.

I was wondering...has anyone who has rear seat entertainment system tried re-routing the NAV using the remote while moving? The NAV displays on the rear screen and maybe this is possible. Since my wife sits in the back and watches movies (better than her watching the speedometer) I'll have her try it and report back.

I wanted to bump this thread back up to the top,
as there was another thread with less relevant information
in it on the same topic.

I'm ready to tackle this mod on my new GX, but
I'm unsure at what I have to do to get access
to the plugs on the back of the NAV.

Do I have to pop off the plastic surround?

If so, what's a good tool for that task.
I looked at it, and the gap around the plastic
is very thin. I'd hate to use a knife and then
scratch up the plastic.

as he says he's done it on a GX and has given
the rest of the instruction above

The plastic trim panels directly below the wood on the sides of the nav screen lift up exposing the bottom of the wood trim panels which then pull out then you can access the bolts that hold the screen in. These trim panles that come out extend rearward past the shifter.

What is it that you acutually do? Cut the #5 wire?, Ground the #13 wire? Cut both, Ground Both???

Please explain in more detail.

I think he means...

cut the violet red wire on pin #5, obviously, you should tape
off the ends with electrical tape, or otherwise insulate the now
bared wires.

cut the green wire, and ground the end that goes to the screen,
and just tape off the other end.

There was another discussion in another thread about this mod
that suggested that this might ...

- void your warranty, and/or
- cause your NAV system to be less accurate.

Apparently, there are some who believe that the speed sensor
input is used by the NAV, and it's not all just GPS. But there
were other reports from folks who had done this mod to other
Lexii (non-GX) that they noticed no difference in NAV accuracy.
