2007 seats in a 2004?
I am looking to replace my worn drivers seat and 2nd row split bench seat in my 2004 GX 470 with seats from a 2007 GX 470. I was told by the salvage yard that they are not a direct fit. This surprised me because I thought that there was very little difference between the 2003 to 2009 GX 470s.
Does anyone know what it will take to make these seats fit? Do they bolt in? Is all the wiring the same? What modification need to be made for these seats to fit?
Thanks for any insight.

On a side note... What are you doing with the arm rest from the rear seat once you replace it?
I am thinking about building a base to go over the center console and replace my Capitan's chair armrests that are useless to a large frame man (ie FAT BOY) like myself. The rear armrest would make a great "lid" to a new center console I would think.

I would think they would be a direct fit physically.
Edit: if you're going to have problems it will be with the side airbags or seat heaters. Seat heaters I'm sure you could work around, airbags would be trickier.

Solo, have you considered have it reupholstered with new Leather? I'm currently looking for a GX but originally planned on a 4Runner ... turns out many of them have cloth so I checked with local shops and found a few of them who convert Front & 2nd Row seats to leather for $1500. Not bad IMO. Its possible you may not even need compete seats re-done, but matching would be a concern. I know Lexus has a nice leather so that may play into cost but just throwing that out there as an option. Knowledge is power

RCsGX - Yes, my GX has side curtain airbags as do the 2007 seats I'm looking at.
Fluid - Thanks for the suggestion. I've looked into getting them recovered but I would really like to stay with the factory Lexus leather seats.
I am thinking that the 2007 seats might have different wiring connections. I wouldn't think Lexus would change the mounting brackets between the years. But, who knows.
Hopefully someone has been able to put newer seats into their older truck...

If you look at this link the 2004s and 2007s share the same part number but they have 3 different models for the seat heater. I'm sure the '07 seats will fit your '04 assuming you know which seat you're buying.

Seat removal on a GX is pretty damm easy and what you could do is remove your seat and take it to the yard for comparision. To me the seat would be right fit, disconnect the harness. Only thing to worry is if equipped with side airbags then at the rear lower end there is hog ring installed, and the wire clamp, you need to remove them carefully. That's it.

mann777 - Unfortunately no yards near me have any Gxs. I will have to have them shipped to me. So I will not have a chance to test fit them first.
RCsGX - Great idea using the parts list for comparison! Why didn't I think of that.
Looks like all the parts numbers are identical between the years. Even all the seat heater control sub-assembly part numbers (part #875010E020) are identical between the two years and the 3 different options. Wounder why they are listed separately?
Correct me if i'm wrong but I thought that all Gx 470's came with front seat side mounted air bags as standard equipment.

Alright, to put this to rest I will tell you YES, the seats do fit without a hitch. I took my 2004 seats and replaced them too with 2008 seats and door panels. I got the door panels and first & second row seats for $850 at a junk yard.
My seats were fine, but the 2008 have an updated headrest design and the door panels have chrome surrounding the ML speakers.
On a side note, make sure the battery is disconnected to the car, and that you DO NOT turn the car on while the yellow SRS airbag wires are disconnected from the seat. Otherwise you WILL get an SRS light that can only be turned off by the dealer.

I have the grey interior and they match 100%. I knew it would work because prior to purchasing seats I took a look at my 2008 GX which also has grey seats and they matched 100%. Once I confirmed everything I went to the salvage yard and bought the seats and door panels.
Also - beige will watch 100% too. We have another family member who had a 2003 beige interior GX and now has a 2007 beige and they are the exact same color.
