Black Plasti-dipping the grill today.

Reviving the thread for a question.

What tape can I use the reattach the 'L' ? I have 3M double sided tape, but it is thicker than I'd like.
Any thin tape out there?

4 coats so far.....

When I removed it I used a heat gun so the adhesive was able to stick back onto the grill "L" spot. I also put 2 little dabs of silicone on the back of the chrome "L" tabs just to be safe.

I put on a total of 6 coats of black on the grill and 6 coats of white on the emblem.
I'm letting it dry overnight before mounting it back.

Wow!
Very nice GX!

Just finished the grill. I'm going to apply some blue metalizer over the black 'L'. The black dip has to cure before applying the metalizer or they say bad things will happen.

Word of caution on removing the grill. One of the mounting tabs broke off because the nut/bolt were seized. Another tab was cracked (fixed that). 6 out of 7 tabs are still good so no big deal. Cheap hardware and cheap plastic. Be careful!

One of my tabs was cracked too. I fixed it with JB weld and I added it to all of the tabs to make sure they don't crack down the road. Make sure not to over tighten the bolts when putting the grill back on.

Thanks for the reply RCsGX.

I took all the glue off. Will use silicone to reattach.

J-B Weld is a great idea!

Am going to put some rubber washers under the nuts and anti-seize on the threads. And yes, tighten VERY carefully. Couldn't believe the hood latch assembly screws on to the plastic grill. LOL! That's the area where mine is cracked. I imbedded a dime in Permatex Ultra Black to reinforce that fastener crack.

It peels off much easier if you do multiple coats than if you do only 2 coats, so don't be shy with the stuff. Plus it looks better with more coats.

I love those wheels. Where did you find them?

I have the same color, but all stock- no lift. Still debating if I want to lift my DD.

How do you like the vent shades? Are they weathertech? Do you notice any increase in wind noise?
