Default 2004 GX470 Strange Noise

I have a 2004 GX470; bought it new. The last few months I have been hearing a strange noise from the driver's side; seems to be coming from under the floorboard and can sometimes feel a vibration in the brake pedal. The noise is similar to a cat meowing. Have a son who is a GM tech; he said it sounds more electrical than mechanical. It happens mostly when I drive it cold. Seems to also happen more when turning/braking. I had the main belt replaced this summer. Should I have the tension pully replaced? Any other suggestions? All help appreciated!

I'd have a good look at your driver side front brakes, when was the last time you had the pads changed? Could be the screech bar on worn out pads, which will ruin your rotors if you continue driving like that.

Than you for the feedback. I forgot to mention I have approx 74k miles; had the left wheel bearing replaced 2 months ago. 3 weeks later the outside mirror "brains" went out and had that replaced. I can't blame the noise on the dealership since it was happening before either of the repairs were done. The dealership checked the brakes when replacing the wheel bearing and said they were fine. They could not locate the cause of the strange sound. I have driven it for so many years that I just have a gut feeling that something is about to go out. I spend a lot of time on the weekends visiting a friend on a ranch. There is always lots of dust and/or mud depending on the weather. Wonder if some dust could be causing a problem. I will try to record the noise and share it with you.

How do I record the noise? I have tried with my phone, but when I try to send it to email or message it says the file is too large to send. Should I try to record with my digital camera? Thanks everyone.

Not sure what phone you're using but on the iPhone you can trim the clip to a smaller size.

If you don't want to mess with that I would just record it with your digital camera and upload it to youtube or photobucket etc.

That's how it usually is.

I had a weird noise coming from the gas tank filler neck opening on my CTS-V. I went to the dealer and of course there was no noise. I left and went to the gas station and as soon as I removed the cap there's the noise again. I went back to the dealer and of course there was no noise. They must've though I was on something that day.

Hmm flashbacks lol--Have you had any dash lights come on yet, mainly Brake/ABS/VSC Trac/VSC Off/ Anti-Skid light ALL on at same time? If so or not I would go to Lexus and have them pull codes and see if C1223/C1253/C1256 are logged. If so you are more than likely looking to replace the Brake booster Assy-the whole unit as it comes as one piece.

Guess what I had mine replaced 7/29/13 ($2200.00)--I just had all my lights come on again about 5 times last month and a restart would clear them, I just swung into Lexus so they can read the faults and YES same Exact thing Hydro-Booster pump motor relay failed, So they are ordering me a Whole New Unit again to replace it under warranty so Zero $$ from me this time ----Its only been 5,000 since new unit too!!!

Great...another expensive part that is prone to failure...and I though it was just the Shocks, Rear Air Bags, Center Diff, KDSS, integrated NAV, Air Injection Pump I had to worry about....

I just cleared a break booster DTC through TIS, luckily it hasn't come back yet. Hopefully it won't.

Unhappy 2004 GX470 Strange Noise

After two weeks of peace and quiet, the strange noise has started again. I will try again to record the noise and post it. Maybe I have Gremlins!!
