Default What a Weekend! Perfect Storm of Car Repair

We'll a few weeks ago I bought a kit to do my timing belt, no big deal I've done many. Fast forward 2 weeks my radiator sprung a big leak! Crap, order one wait for it. Then this past week taking the family out to dinner the battery warning light came on and there was a wine in the engine. Dam alternator! Ordered that and broke it all down thus past weekend. Let me tell you that they were all easy but very time consuming. I had a Honda Ody before and it took me 5 hours. These repairs on the GX. Took me 15. Wow. So now my GX had a new timing and serpentine belt and timing pulleys, new plugs, new Denso alternator, new Keyotorand radiator, and in handed the oil and air filter as we'll. I thing I saved myself a few grand. The GX has never run so well, what a relief!

Well getting the radiator out of the way made the job easier for the timing belt, etc. What year and mileage?

When I had my timing belt done we noticed the rad was starting to seep, so it got replaced at the same time as well, good on you for knocking it off yourself!

When I did my TB back in September, I left the rad in. In retrospect I should have pulled it out to do the job. Worst part was I forgot to put the fan shroud in after I put it all together and couldn't get one if the pan clutch bolts undone so I had to jam the shroud in with the fan in place.

Let me tell you that was easily the hardest part of the whole job!

A few weeks ago I noticed coolant leaking from the bottom if the truck. Almost had a heart attack thinking I messed something up. Bought a small mirror at autozone to help me find the leak. Was leaking from the large o ring at the WP housing. Make sure you use a good amount of soap when putting that back on!

When I took out the one I just put in I noticed it had a small tear so that is probably where it was leaking from. I don't think I lubed it up enough when putting it together. Ironically, that is the exact same spot it was leaking from before I did the TB job albeit it was coming out very slowly.
