That is why I need all the cheat tools I can find... this tirerack calculator tells you the size specs and MPH error with different diameter. I have a friend that has cheat sheet next to his speedometer to help him prevent getting tickets.

Just plug in your original size, then the new size next to it, and it'll tell you the speedometer adjustments.

I just called Will @ Sierra Expeditions in Phoenix and he said that they have regeared the GX470 before, About $3000.00 parts and labor to install them.

Good to know it can be done if I need it.

I wouldn't bother with regearing if you're only going up to 32" tires. Stock are about 30.5" and so that gives you about 5% error. To compensate, you'd be going from the stock 3.73 R&P to a 3.90 R&P which is the next ratio up. I think you'd be hard pressed to notice a huge difference in drivability on or off road. You might notice your MPG go down but it'd take a while to recuperate $3000 in fuel savings.

I hazard a guess that you won't stop at 32" tires and continue the modifications that would step up the tire size more and then you'll want 4.11 gears or lower.

By all means, it's your money, but I'd definitely see how much difference the lift and tires makes with stock gears before throwing down that much more. Just think, you could get ARB lockers front and rear and even a set of rock sliders for $3000.

No matter what you do. Please let us know and post up lots of pics.

It's good to know buy unless you're running 35"+ tires, which NOBODY with a GX is, re-gearing isn't worth the money.

I used a Michelin AT 265/65R17 on the stock Rim with a 2" ironman suspension lift, and it works perfect! No rubbing.

I went with a 285/70/17 on stock suspension and wheels with 1.25" spacers. Pushed fender liners fwd and trimmed the running board plastics. Had a tiny bit of rub on the body mounts with stock suspension but nothing that would harm anything. I've since added bilstein 5100's on 3rd notch so about 2" lift and tricked airbags in rear and no rub at all. I'm super happy i went with a 285/70 as i almost did 265/70 as i was hesitant on trimming stuff (all that was easy) . Even the 33's seem kinda small still to me but the bigger tires are much more fitting to the larger GX body.

I have a 2010 gx 470
and i got 4 pretty good used tires but instead of the tires i picked out which are 265 65 R17
They put 245/65/17
On 3 of them and the 265/65/17 on 11 i have the dial straight up. On the comfort and low drive system thing. It's pulling and driving horrible. So is it the tires i do need upper ball joints. But is the tires making it feel worse?

First there are no 2010 gx470, 09 was the last year and then 460 the circumference is smaller on the 245 so it’s not spinning at the same speed….that will screw up differential

Agreed with ALAN. Different tire sizes on any AWD system is very bad for the diffs. Go back and insist they get you 4 matching tires.
