Default 2008 GX Questions

New to this great site. Am a second owner to a 2008 GX Blizzrd Pearl that I love. Have had the truck 4 years and now am having some issues to address:
Truck has 83 k miles. Is it time to change the timing belt, water pump, etc? Has never been done.
Aircon issues. Freon leaks out...Live in Florida... so aircon is required. Leak seems to be behind firewall, but mechanics have not been able to locate the leak.
Hate the wheels on the truck now that the paint is blistering. Has anyone repainted the wheels? Did this on a Miata years ago with great results. Recommendation for what paint to use, OR reasonablly priced rims to put on this great vehicle!!.
First Lexus we have ever owned.

Personally, I would go another 7,000 before I did the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, idler, thermostat, coolant, etc unless you have been having to fill the overflow coolant reservoir frequently.

Toyota recommends changing the timing belt @ 90K or every 108 months (9yrs). Many have gone well over those recommendations.

As far as wheels, there's a few that have plasti-dipped their wheels w/ silver, black etc. If you do a search you can find them and take a look. If you want painting any automotive paint will work fine. There are cheap 17" Tundra / Sequoia wheels that look good on our GX. Also several GX owners have put 18" GX460 wheels on their 470. Some have also put 18" 4th gen 4Runner wheels on their GX too. Just do a google search for GX470 wheels and you'll find many pics.

Can't help you on your A/C leak. Hopefully you figure it out because summer is right around the corner. It's been hot this weekend down in the Orlando area. Thankfully a storm system is rolling in tomorrow and the rest of the week will be mid-high 70s / low 80s.

Default Timing Belt

Thanks for the advise. Not in a rush to spend the money on the timing belt, so will wait until the magic 90k. Will look into a nice set of wheels. Use the GX to amongst other things haul a small boat, so the wheels frequently are getting very very wet.
After reviewing this site I have decided to keep the GX for another 90 k.
Thanks for the help on my 'issues'

I've found that GX wheels are fairly common on Craigslist. You might be able to score a set of stock wheels in good shape on the cheap if you are patient.
