Question 07 GX470 Height Adjust Q

New owner of a 2007 GX470, 78000 miles. Very clean truck. I am having trouble with the height adjustment. It seems to not work. I put the switch to "low" setting, and the truck does not lower.

Any help?

I need to know how it is designed to work. Does it lower to make it easier to get in to the vehicle, then raise while driving?
Does it lower till you change the switch?

Thanks in advance.

Manual should give you all the info you would need. If you hit L while parked and it does not lowered and the Indicator light does not move to L., then you have a problem.

Understand a couple of things.

First, the height adjustment only works when you are going very slowly. If you raise or lower the height, once you reach a speed of something like 8 mph, the height will automatically return to the normal setting. Also, the height change only affects the rear height, and nothing changes in the front of the vehicle.

It only drops by an inch or so. I think the purpose of the low setting is to assist in hooking up a trailer. Because of the 8mph limit, it won't produce cleaner aerodynamics at highway speeds (like a Tesla, that lowers automatically at high speed to extend it's range)

OK, thanks all.

Are there any suggestions on how to lower it, say 2-3 inches front and rear?

I need it to be easier for my mother to get in and out of.

Thanks.

It can't go any lower than the bump stops on the axle and only the rear drops. and son, if it's your mother you are worried about, you bought the wrong vehicle. Been there done it...

Like Alan553 says -- it's a classic body-on-frame SUV, and it is what it is. No 2" drop is possible.
