Transmission shifts into drive twice!!!
Hi all,
Lately, I've been having an issue with my 03 GX. It seems when the engine is cold and I back out of my driveway, when I put the truck into D, I feel the usual bump into drive, then it falls off and then a harder bump before I'm able to roll forward. If I don't pay attention and accelerate at the time the transmission seems to drop out of gear momentarily, the truck slams into gear and feels like I granny dropped it.
I've done a few searches, but no real answers. The truck is coming up on 120K. I've checked the transmission fluid and it is at the correct level. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Ask your mechanic to check the driveshaft and u-joints for play. There is a TSB on them, but not sure your problem would apply.

The next possibility that occurs to me is a shift solenoid going bad. But they usually set a code.
I think next step is a dealer visit.

I'd scan and see if there's any codes, that doesn't sound great though. Good luck.
