TPMS compatibility?
My current wheels are original and I've been thinking picking up some Tundra or 4Runner wheels. I know with BMW wheels, MY11 and newer tpms sensors will not work on, say an 07 or 08. They are on different frequencies. Are Toyotas the same? How did you all get the newer wheels/tpms to register on these older GXs? Better yet, can you disable tpms light? Thanks.

You most certainly can disable TPMS (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...e-sensors.html), many have done it. But, I strongly advise not to. It's a very useful sensor system that covers cases that go beyond the idiot light. What if you're driving on the highway and get a leak? This can alert you before you destroy a tire. Yes we should all be in the habit of looking at the tires before driving, but TPMS is far more useful than just that scenario.

Im picking up a second set of 4 wheels this weekend. I will swap out just the 4 and leave the original spare with tpms there. Will this be a problem with registering the second set at dealer?

Ali- 4 new wheels already have sensors of their own. Will new set register with just 4 instead of complete set of 5 with spare included?

you will have to go to the dealer each time and pay from what I am reading on other forums, but it will work. not sure if the GX is different in that it can store more than 5 codes but if its like the tacoma it needs a reprogram.
this is a good read, same system, different truck

What about the winter-tire switch under the steering wheel?
Can he not get his other tires registered with it in the secondary position?

Chip- Good point. So technically I can have a second set registered with only 4 wheels and be ok. I doubt anyone runs 4 plus a spare as a winter set. Thanks for the thought.
