Default Sulfer Smell

Anyone notice any type of "sulfer smell" in their GX. There are a lot of people on another message board with 03 4Runners that are complaining and I'm just wondering if any GX owners have the problem It appears to be most noticeable with windows rolled down but some people complain it's always there. Any input would be appreciated.

I do believe this is a normal burn-in function of the catalytic converter.

Holy Smokes! I seriously thought I was going crazy and when I told my wife she just looked at me like "yeah right you just lit one up" ,"no honey it's not me it's the car" I wonder what the cause is.

the cause is almost certainly the catalytic converter. This is an issue from time to time I have had with every car I have owned.

This is normal condition and depending on the gasoline too. The additive in the gasoline is difference from brand to brand and from state to state. Lexus just send out the TSB about this issue about 1 month ago.

Damn, I thought it was just me!

I've noticed it's worse as the car warms up. I also haven't noticed it as much in my second 1K of miles versus the first.

I'm curious to see how it acts when the gas mix changes to summer.

Default Thanks for the response

This sulfur smell story is getting interesting. There are a several complaints from 4Runner owners with this problem. The ones that do not have the problem say its the catalytic converter or gas but I think there is more to it than that since most have changed to every brand and octane with the same result. Anyone with the smell not on the east coast???

If you really push the motor off the line, you will smell it with any car. Particularly when the catalytic converter is new.

No, no you guys are all wrong. After doing much research into the root cause with the previous people who reported this, it turns out all of them had one thing in common. They had all eaten at Taco Bell before getting into their GX and farted. This is the root cause of the sulfur smell.

I am always sure to make the ac recycle rather than take frsh air in from outside. I smelled something and thought it was my kids farting but I pulled over and smelled their butts and it was not them. I only have 150 miles on my GX
