Default 4Runner to GX470

What's up guys. My 4Runner (2004, SE, V6, RWD) got t-boned a couple of weeks back. Unfortunately, it was deemed totaled. Loved that truck. Insurance gave me $8K for it, and I found a 2004 GX470 for a good price. I'm not unfamiliar to the GX (mom drove one before getting an LX) and have always loved the power and extra bells and whistles compared to my 4Runner. Just wanted to stop in and say hey. I'll be lurking this forum a lot for ideas, specifically the easiest way to upgrade the stereo (all I need is an AUX port really).

If you're looking to upgrade the stereo, I'd highly suggest you buy one without Nav and Mark Levinson sound. You'll thank me later.

This x100. Welcome, I'm sure you'll love the GX platform.

Oh I forgot to mention I don't have navigation. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look into it.

Then just replace the factory deck with whatever aftermarket you please, it's easy when you have the base stereo. I'd definitely opt for something with Bluetooth, and USB inputs if I was spending even a dime on an aftermarket stereo at this point.

Huh, didn't know I could just drop in another stereo. The things I've read suggest it's much harder, but that might just be for trucks with navigation. Thanks!

You can only swap headunits in the non navigation GX's since the navigation screen controls the air/heat as well as the radio and what not.
