Although I caught these tricks a while back and used them, its always good to bring it up again for those who weren't lucky enough to catch it the last time.
Great info Now all I need is to know how to reprogram the key to unlock all door with 1 push, without going to the dealer.
John
Before I took delivery of my 06 GX, I had the dealer make a few changes to the standard LPS, one of which was to open all doors with one push of the remote key and I also had them turn off the Daytime Running Lamps. I hate those things.
Does anyone knows how to disable the auto-tilt and telescope function of the steering wheel? Just tried the unlocking the door when in park function, it works, but I don't really like the doors unlocking every time I put the GX into park. So I disable that function and I also disable the autp lock function when I put the transmission into drive also. The auto lock function is good safety feature if you have young kids in the car, but I don't. It is now a totally manual system, just the way I like it, no more opening doors with the door lock engaged and possibly damaging the power door lock.
On my 05 GX, I had the dealer turn the auto tilt away function off, but after a month, I did miss the feature, So when I picked up my 06 GX, I left the tilt away feature intact and instead I had them turn the DRL's off along with a few other changes to the LPS. So, yes the dealer can turn the tilt away feature off by going into the LPS. But I believe this only applies to the 05-06 GX.
The DRLs can be turned off??!??? I'll have to contact my dealer about this...
Yes they can. Although my dealer initially said no, when I gave them the volumn, chapter and the page number of the Lexus Service Manual, then they had no choice. They said that they never had a customer that asked to turn those darn annoying DRL's off. So I taught them something new.
