What kind of gas? Premium or regular? (merged GX gas threads)
The owners manual doesn't really specify premium gas but the Lexus web site recommends it. I've been using premium but not sure it's really gettting me anything additional (mileage or power). We have 89 octane blended available. What's everyone else using for gas?

I used both 93 and 87 found no difference between the 2 so once I got passed the mental aspect of switching to 87 I was fine, 20cents more a gallon or 2 extra bucks for a haf tank fill up 4 extra for a full tank was not gonna do anything to me.
The truck runs the same on both gases, Toyota/Lexus state in the owners manual 87 octane but for added performance use premium, what they should have said was 87 octane but for towing or carrying heavy loads premium would be better
Unless the added weight of the GX hinders the 4.7L ability to get up and go their is no reason why V8 4Runner owners can run 87 and GX owners can't.
I think it is all in your head but for those running Premium, try 87 or regular and see the difference and let us know
When it warms up and they switch the gas back to the summer mixture I'll try 93 and see if it makes a difference once again.
Both the Toyota dealer and Lexus Dealer are connected and fill the new cars up at Mobil with 87

I've tried 87, 91, and 93. Gas mileage was the same with no noticeable difference in power. I'm sticking with 87 for now.
I'll try them all again after around 5K on the engine.

Premium or regular?
I've always used premium in my Lexus cars, but noticed my recently acquired GX says regular is OK. Haven't tried it yet (and probably won't), but I was wondering what everyone else is using, especially with the recent jump in fuel prices.

I only use premium in ours (out of habit rather than intentionally). You do get an improvement in mpg with the higher octane (93 vs 87), but I doubt it offsets the additional cost.

Fuel Choice / Octane level used in GX470 (merged threads)
Which octane rating is recommended for the GX470? My BMWs have required premium, so I wasn't sure about the GX.

When I had my GX, I used premium and regular grades. Noticed no difference, the manual states premium but door flap list 87 Octane. This is the same V-8 used in Toyotas which recommend regular.
In my new LX i have been using premium. The price difference is not that great.
