Default Two Thumbs Up For The A/T 2

I just returned from Discount Tire Company for a rotation and balance whe I saw your post. Installed a set of Michelin LTX A/T 2 tires in January 2011. BTW, the Continenals (don't recall variety) that were on it sucked! Instant ride quality upgrade, and I was already enchanted with the new-to-me GX w/ 56k miles. Back then, Michelin did not tread wear warranty the A/T 2s. Same tire today comes with 60k warranty. Mine have 67,000+ in 58 months. About 1000 of that is sporadic NV/UT/AZ mountain and desert off road use. Woefully neglected rotations (twice before today?). 30% tread remaining today. Silent on the road and very respectful off road/wet/snow performance. Couldn't be more pleased. They are suffering some UV damage. It is five years almost, and we live in a brutal sun state. If not for that, I expect we'd make it to 90,000 on one set of tires. It's notable that these tires do not seem hard, as in they feel soft enough that I would never have guessed they'd make it north of 40,000. And we are not kind to these tires. So bummer about the sun wear, but guess what? Michelin is crediting $330 even if I buy another brand due to the UV induced sidewalk checking (they did the same with the stick tires on my Dodge 3500 a few years ago). I ordered 4 more. Just over $600 with mount, balance, road hazard replacement and lifetime rotatation/balance/repair. Can't ask for much better than that! I highly recommend these tires.

All - I purchased the Michelin LTX MS/2 tires and mounted yesterday at a local costco. They are a big difference from the Michelin AT's that came with the truck.

They're quiet - it will be raining the remainder of the week here so we'll see how they stand up. The pricing was the same everywhere $867 installed - costco doesn't do the road force balance. I'll have that done within a weeks time or so.

it's only been 2 days, but I'm glad I chose them over the Contis - the tread seems like it would eat thru snow very easily.

Thanx to all for responses.

COSTCO call that tire the X Radial LT/2...Michelin lists it as their "club exclusive" tire...whats the diff between that and the LTX MS/2?

To be honest I don't know the difference. In researching choices it came down to the LTX MS/2 and Continental reviews from TireRack.com. I initially thought about purchasing directly from Tirerack.com as I've done previously. However, after posting here in the forum and visiting Costco last weekend I just pulled the trigger.

I had them mounted Tuesday evening and that's when I noticed the exact tire you mentioned above - http://www.michelinman.com/US/en/tir...adial-lt2.html

Here's what I have now - http://www.michelinman.com/US/en/tir...tx-m-s-2.html#

I'm happy with what I chose and they seem more beefier than the X Radials. They're about the same price - again Costco promotions usually are good a week after they stop listing them. They've bridgestone promotion now but the Michelin should come back soon and with the $70 off it helps

LTX M/S2 is going away, replaced by the Defender LTX M/S. Same tire with a slightly different tread compound.
