My wife and I are expecting our 3rd baby and though it is indeed a blessing, it was also not planned .

Reaching out to all the families of 5 out there and wanted to hear your stories/experiences.

My initial thoughts were that 3 baby seats will not work in the 2nd row so perhaps I will utilize 1/2 of the third row and putting a baby seat back there, picking up either, a Yakima or Thule cargo box to make up for the lost space and avoid going the minivan route.

Tell me your thoughts guys
Crazy timing for this thread, I'm in the exact same boat right now as you! Honestly, I do not like my GX and would prefer to get rid of it. Unfortunately, I'll have to keep it a bit longer as we need to sell my wife's Acura TL and plan on getting her an Escalade or Yukon Denali. I'd prefer to have the XL version but since she will be driving it mostly, we'll stick with the regular size.

That being said, most of those come with the captain chairs in the 2nd row. Is it safe to put our oldest child (4 yrs) in the middle of the 3rd row in one of those SUVs?

So I reached out to Lexus and I asked where they stood in regards to a baby seat in the 3rd row. Their response was that they do not prohibit a baby seat back there and that the third row is set up to be hooked up with a car seat if needed.

After speaking with my wife, we're going to keep the GX and see how it goes but keep the minivan option open. Admittedly those vans are pretty cool. Talking to friends that own them, everyone said that they are a G*d sent. Researching them online and I hate to say but they're growing on me.

Thanks everyone for their input.

If you go the van route, Sienna specifically, I'd suggest getting one with the upgraded JBL stereo. We had an LE with the base stereo setup. Road noise is more pronounced in the Sienna and you'll be glad you have those extra watts.
