Considering buying used GX 470
I'm in the market for a GX 470, preferably 2006 or later, one owner, low mileage & with good maintenance history.
I've been doing some online research & some people have complained that their City/ Hwy average is about 15. Is it that low?
Also, how bad is the 3rd row leg space & comfort? I'd a '02 Odyssey. Is it even less than that?
What would be a good price for '06 with 135k miles?

You can click on this link to see my mileage history:

As you can see, I spend most of my time idling in Austin traffic, so I'm usually in the 12.5 - 13.1 mpg range. Any sort of highway trip gets me in the 16-19 mpg range.

Best I ever got was 20 mpg and that was a road trip to virginia. 85% highway and 15% city. Typically I'll average 16/17 mpg driving around town. I also drive slow, make sure I come to a rolling stop as much as possible and accelerate pretty conservatively. I've pissed a few people off driving behind me before but whatever.

Less air = less fuel. The truck was a pig though.

i average 15-17mpg... and that is with mixed hwy/city use... it sucks, but i also have a GS430 which doesn't do THAT much better...
3rd row is pointless for any adult unless for short trip... the Oddy is a minivan that has a better 3rd row, but then again it is a minivan...
it's been over a year since i researched prices... so i can't help you on the '06... but many factors go into the price... has the timing belt and maintenance been done... how is the condition of the paint and interior???
to give you an idea, over a year ago, i paid $28k for my 09 with 69k miles... search for other cars with the same year and similar mileage and start there to gauge price ranges...

I would use kbb.com as a way to gauge the price you should pay for the cars you're looking at. I bought my 08 gx with 50k miles on it for 20k back in 2014. The price was great and admittedly I was a little skeptical but I Took the car to the lexus dealer to have it checked out, split the cost with the seller and when I got the report back saying the only problem the saw was a nail in one of the tires, I bought it.

I've recently starting looking into a GX possibly. I am in your area. I am curious as to what you are looking to sell your vehicle for?

I hand calculated about 17.5 on the highway going 70. My GX is bone stock. I paid 10k for my 03 with 139k about a month ago. It has a few imperfections.
Also I wouldn't worry about miles as much as I would about maintenance and condition.

I found 07 GX with 190k miles. Does not have Navigation, Backup Camera, Entertainment System, Bluetooth, Satellite, etc. It appears to be well maintained at Lexus Dealership. I'll be taking it to Lexus for PPI tomorrow just to be sure.
Should High-Miles be a concern even if it was maintained by Lexus?
Is ~$12K a good price?
Is it as reliable as LX from say, '99-'04?

Our 07 GX is not built. Stock-size Michelins. It's a grocery getter and soccer-mom truck mostly and average speed when she's had it all week is usually 17-19mph. True suburb truck and it returns about 16mpg in those conditions (I've seen as low as 15.8). Highway at 70mph we get 20mpg (loaded or unloaded does not matter). Highway at 75mph it drops to 18mpg and at 80mph you're at 16.5, Bottom line: it's a big, powerful V8, a heavy body-on-frame build and a not-slippery shape.
Price: whatever your local market yields.
3rd row is dismal. Low, dark and cramped. I've put my 6'2" frame back there to go a few miles before and it sucked. You also lose all luggage ability when they're in place. The ride is pretty bouncy back there because of the bags, too. My advice: these are trucks for 5 people or less, the third row should be children-only and only when absolutely necessary. IMO, the only 3rd rows that make sense in a SUV are the 3rds in a Suburban.
