Still chasing obscure road rumble!
Having eliminated the "clunk" possibility in an earlier post I am still trying to find an inconsistent low rumble sound when moving. It sounds like the base sound of a car with a loud stereo somewhere nearby. I believe it originates near the rear of the passenger side of the car. I thought I had found and corrected it when I silicon-ed the sway bar bushings, but that only seemed to lessen it. At the same time I sprayed silicone on the shock mounts top and bottow-no cigar! I have thoroughly examined the exhaust system and the heat shields.
A couple of thoughts, could the plastic shields around the air shocks be rattling? Also when the radio is off could the amplifier still be on and giving some base notes? All of the wheel bearings show no sign of any wobble or noise. The tires are almost new Firestones but I think I will have the inspected by an independent tire shop. Still have the original shocks and springs. Seem to be working well.
Any cool ideas appreciated.
