Code P0010
Had Vsc Trac Vsc Trac and Check Engine Light ON. Replaced Gas Cap last firday with new Toyota one and lights went off.
Since Yesterday Lights have been back up again. As i have checked the forums it can be host of issues. One thing i can't get pass by is the gas cap. My older gas cap was loose and the new one i replaced 4-5 days a go is no different either. It clicks and tightens but doesn't show no resistance at all when rotated anti-clockwise.
Off-course i am no mood of spending thousands of dollars. I will be taking new gas cap back to toyota dealer today and getting that exchanged. Also tried Auto-zone Gas Cap that thing feels looser than the toyota one. Guy said it might be your filler neck that's bad. I will also try to get codes scanned and see whats going on or if any sensor is messed up....

Update Need Help
I just made a stop at Mieneke and the guys read the codes from me.
Its OBD P0010 Camshaft Sensor.
Not sure what it is. i just recently got the timing belt done as well so not sure what to point to.
Hopefully someone can chime in before I am compelled to take it to Dealership.

If that code is real, I wouldn't drive it. I would contact where you got the timing belt done and tell them you're getting it towed back to them.

I have read symptoms for this code but once i make sure its P0010 i will contact dealer who did the timing belt.
In the meanwhile i found this repair manual for 2UZ-FE related to that code. Hopefully some one can translate that so i can troubleshoot myself before making that call.
Also on my way back to work i will stop at another shop to get the codes read just confirm.
My idle is not rough, Can't feel loss of power, runs smooth.

Did you have the shop clear the code and had it come back? That would be my 1st step, OBD2 can be finicky, if the code never comes back, was there ever really a problem?

I think he tried to clear the code using OBD Scanner. And he couldn't.
I had no problems with my car and no symptoms either except this CEL and VSC stuff. Runs and Drives normal.
He also mentioned that camshaft sensor might be gummed up (not sure what he meant).

He means lack of maintenance can cause sludge buildup on the sensor, causing erratic/no readings. A lot of times with that code you don't have driveablility issues, the camshaft is where it needs to be, the car just doesn't see it that way.

I did talk to the dealer service and told them about the code. They said they will charge me $190 for the diagnosis and will adjust that towards the repair.
Does anyone know where that sensor is? Is it accessible easily or not? If it is then i can open it up and see if that clears the code.

Good News Problem Solved
Thanks TZ and others.
So today I had appointment set at Dealer. I started the Car in the Morning and It scared the crap out of me with a Loud Vaccum Sound. I thought I would turn it off and get it towed but than i was so frustrated that I drove it right to the dealer. Told him the situation and they took it in for diagnostic for the code.
Hour later turns out it the pin inside the connector to the VVT oil control sensor was bent a little so they straightened it out with the pliers and connected it back and code disappeared. Check Engine light VSC etc all gone
They did troubleshooting for that vacuum noise and told me it was the Alternator making that sound trying to compensate for the Battery which might be going out soon if it still exists then alternator needs to be replaced. They did not charge me for the diagnostic fee which was $197 as it turned out to be their fault.
So far all looks good.
1 take away for me is when VSC Lights come on Engine does a lot of weird things and tries to reduce the output and i felt car was getting rough everyday while it was on. Not sure if it true. But now its running as it has been alway smoooth....

1st time when the light came on it got cleared after i replaced the gas cap and it cleared. But then P0010 was persistent...
Anyways.. No issues so far it's been 2 days already and everything looks good.
