I have a 2004 GX470 w/ nav and I HATE it! Want to get a new rig and I love the BeEvil solution!

I thought this might be another option to not mess with the HVAC controls in the OEM nav screen.

Anyone have a preference? Personally I want to get rid of the nav screen but the $800 is pricey!

You have several options. I converted a ML Nav to a 9" Android. Fairly straightforward really.

@Kelevra can you elaborate a bit? Maybe an image or two? Essentially I want to buy a unit, drive over to BestBuy and have them install it for me and maintain all connections.

Do you just hate the screen and want to replace it or you want to play music/calls via BT? If you just need a BT, then Yatour BT adapter will help you.

Hate the whole thing and want to replace it but the integration of the controls in the touch-screen make it difficult.

You have several options from actual "plug and play" to modifying the ML Nav system. You can also add a Non Nav AC controller. You then can add the headhunt you would like to use. Some are made for the GX or Prado, some are not but, work well with the right harness conversions.

Heads up, I found what looks to be an updated (and same) version of the Phoenix Automotive system here: https://www.alibaba.com/product-deta...E#shopping-ads

Looks exactly the same as the Phoenix and I was quoted $445 w/ shipping included. Biggest difference, the OS is android 8.1 and Phoenix is 7.1. However, if you look at the details on the Phoenix site, it says this ... which doesn't match their description. Can anyone confirm the Phoenix specs?

We had a Phoenix head unit installed. I had major concerns with the CanBus AC controllers. My biggest worry was that we would get stuck in the desert without a functional AC system. (My wife and I have a home in Tucson, about a 10 to 12 hr drive). The Phoenix head unit never gave us an issue. I was just worried IF it failed, a replacement would be the only option. (Aside from re installing the stock unit(s).

I just installed a PX6 unit and it had Android 8.1.It's a little quirky but overall I am pleased.

Looking to upgrade as well. The PX6 looks like it would do the job. How is the Bluetooth quality? Right now the 2006 has a weak Bluetooth. It works but it's not great..

Has anyone upgraded the backup camera along with this? Is there anywhere else to purchase? Couldn't even find the units on ebay..

Long time 4Runner aficionado, first time GX470 owner. After much reading and consideration, I just ordered the PX6 from Phoenix. I also have to replace the dash, since this GX never had it replaced with warranty. Side note: It’s going to dealer tomorrow for airbag recall and I’m hoping to use my good looks and charm to get them to replace the dash, but likely will be doing it myself!

Either way, I’ll post here regarding both as soon as I have any updates!

P.S. Anyone have video/pics on dash removal? I can get through radio removal no prob, but don’t seem to find any posts/vids regarding dash removal removal.

What year is your gx470? And what dash recall? I've got the 06 and the dash just started slightly cracking. Would be over the moon for a new one but I have a hard time believing the dealership would budge on anything that old. Still worth the shot, give em hell and keep me posted! Lmk what options/addons you go with on the PX6 also. My backup cam sucks and would really like to upgrade if possible.
