GX470 w/Nav Solution for Aftermarket Stereo?
#17
I think the only thing wrong is that the nav screen/interface is aged. Having a plug and play update, where you can BT or USB, use current GPS and all the apps available for Android based radio’s would be nice. I personally have no use for our OEM cassette deck. So I would love to have a plug and play solution.

I just ordered a DLC Android system for my 2003 GX470 off of AliExpress. I'll let you know the results once I get it installed. Look like a plug and play one. We shall see.

Awesome! I’ll be interested to here how this turns out. On Facebook page GXOFFROAD, there are a couple of people that have purchased the Tesla style Radio’s, one has Nav, one does not. The one without has the system up and running. The one with Nav has been working with a Tech person working out the bugs. A personal tragedy took him away from it for the time being. Last I knew, they had the a/c controls working and everything else except sound. So I know they are close, maybe a flash or two away from being plug and play. Will you be doing the install yourself?

That’s great! Please post back here as soon as you have any info on the install. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. Which model radio did you go with?

Also would like to hear and update when it's all done. I have a US version 2005 GX with factory Nav and would like to update the existing system the "Tesla" style system.

Voice commands don't work properly, therefore it's 100% impossible to enter anything in while driving, etc, etc, etc.

TBH, the voice commands were always a "marketing" feature. I can't get it to understand a single command. And going by the list of supported commands - they really aren't all that useful anyways.

I just ordered the VAIS TECH SL3B-L today to allow music streaming based on the very helpful information on this board. However, the Tesla style plug in play sure sounds interesting if reliable.

If they ever get to the point where there's a Tesla-style Android unit that's a plug & play replacement for the Nav equipped trucks, I'm all over it. Until then...nav sucks.

My sentiments exactly! I have been closely following the thread on FB where the guy is working with an Engineer trying to get the bugs out. To my understanding the problem is getting the sound to work. Apparently the Euro models have different amps. The "guy" thought they were getting close, this was just before Christmas. So I have had my fingers crossed hoping it will happen. Until then, I drive around with my display off and my phone jacked into the Aux input. lol
