Here's how. I got mine early enough to be part of the buy-back program.
(mis-labelled GVWR).

So I let them buy it back (at full-price, taxes, ext warranty, everything), then
bought a brand new 03 GX with all the same options, minus Lexus Link.
Of course, GX's are now selling at a discount.

Put $5K in my pocket, and went from the 5000lb hitch to the 6500lb, and
reset my mileage from 7K back to 0. What a country!

Don't have a picture yet, but it looks a lot like the Hidden Hitch, round tube.
It only sits a little lower than the previous hitch.

My local Lexus dealer is going to be installing 3rd party hitches in a couple weeks. According to the Parts Manager, they have been offically told that there will be no dealer installable hitch from Lexus, so they are working a deal with a 3rd party company. Since it is still in the works he could not give me the name. I am on the list and expect to have it done around mid-August. The first person to get it will be the Lexus Body Manager who bought a GX with no hitch and needs one so he is the test case. Once I get it will post the vendor and part numbers if they can be viewed.

Since the dealership is installing the hitch they said the warrenty is not affected. I plan to have them include that in writing on the invoice so if there are any issues I can bring it back to them.

My personal "tow hitch saga" comes to an end today. My local Lexus dealership has received my Lexus tow hitch package and it is to be installed today. It has taken me a little over four months, with numerous calls to the dealership where I purchased the vehicle and Lexus customer service, but I will finally have a hitch on my GX. They are supposed to be installing the 6500lb hitch, so this is a good thing as well. Too bad I missed most of the summer not being able to use the GX for one of its intended purposes; pulling my Jet SKi and motorcycle.
