A low mileage GX is not 15K. That was his original statement. So yeah, It's a little more then the GX. But your talking about spending mods on the GX so their is clearly money on the table to spend a little more then the base GX price. Throw the mod money at a 5.7 version of a Toyota is much better money spent then on a GX. I love my GX. But it's not the one I would choose to tow with. I would get something better suited for that task. He said light off roading. The 200 is a GREAT off road option and the Sequoia would do way more then most people would ever imagine.

I found a nice 200 with about 70K for about 32K. I almost bought it. I just didn't need the bigger V8.

Just picked up my 08 with KDSS with 135,000 miles for 15,900. I had no idea what kdss was till I had already bought it. I've owned a Land Rover in the past so I'm familiar with air bag suspensions and so far I'm very happy with it.

A 2005 GX470 with 75k miles appraises at about $15k. Include $5k for mods. $20k total.

A 2008 LX570 with 75k miles appraises at about $32k. Plus another $1k in additional tax. I also assume higher insurance costs. Maybe another $3k over 5 years? $36k. So, $16k more over 5 years?

I guess you'd "break even" if you think you could sell a 2008 LX570 for $16k more than a 2005 GX470 in 2021? You might have a good point, but I am usually more influenced by today's cost. For me, $15k today was more attractive than $32k. But, like I said, you have a good point in that the life cost may be a wash?

I don't quite understand what you are saying, so just for clarity for others, KDSS is a hydraulic system. The rear air bags are unrelated.

I have an 06 GX for sale with sport package and KDSS if anyone is interested. Still under extended warranty for 34k miles as well. It's at 107k miles and hasn't had the timing belt done but great condition other than that.

The KDSS works like magic.
Very flat in curves on the highway, you can even trick it to flatten out more by cranking into curve sharper than you need to and it really flattens the approach out.

Did you sell the 2006 GX 470?
I'm interested if you still have it.
