Default New 2003 GX

Hello everyone, I just bought a 2003 Lexus GX 470 with 82xxx miles. The radiator must be changed, rear shocks, and wheels. The vehicle is very clean, I found it in a Lexus dealership, they inspected it and give me a report. After changing those things, I will change the timing belt, and get bigger all terrain tires.

I will appreciate Your suggestions!

WTF!? 82,000 miles on an '03. Lots of life left. The only issue I had with mine at 95,000 was the alternator. Also, be aware that the sunroof drains can get clogged and may leak. Pull the plastic door sill off the front driver and passenger side and feel under the carpet for any moisture. I also suggest removing the rear cargo plastic door sill and checking the rear edges of the carpet for moisture. These are all easy issues to fix yourself.

In regards to suspension upgrades, There are lots of lifted GXs out there, they can be found on Facebook at GX Off-Road. There is a growing group knowledgable and helpful people there with some pretty awesome builds. If you are interested, I encourage you to join and share your experiences with your GX.

Very nice. Kinda like mine but nicer on the outside. I got one with 80,000 and a 04. Already had a new radiator and the water pump, timing belt done and brakes. I have done 8K since I got it, zero issues. My rear shocks were shot. But I did Bilsteins and some new Springs. Drives great. Thats it a nice find.

I have read somewhere that we can use 4Runner's rear shocks as they are a lot cheaper than Lexus. I don't know anything about mechanical stuff, could you please suggest me what to use in order to get all-terrain tires 265/70/17 and have a comfortable drive?

I have 07" with 90k miles now did replace the rear shocks with 4Runner for 40$ a piece. They were leaking real bad, apart from that did the spark plugs, brakes and air filters. Gonna do the water pump and timing belt soon.

The ones on my GX are meant for the 07 FJ. But they are Bilstein. I think a lot of different 120chassis shocks will ultimately work.

Lifted Lexus is dead. Join GXOR. 4Runner, FJ and some Taco parts will fit the GX. If you are needing to replace the shocks or the front coil-overs and don't want a lift, be aware that the GX factory shocks have adjustable dampening. If you use 4Runner shocks, you will most likely lose that feature.
