Moonroof rattle
The moonroof in my GX has had a slight rattle for some time. Mostly on the driver's side. I had the dealer take a look at it once and they pretty much said that all they wanted to do was replace the whole moonroof at a cost of around $3,000. That's no good. So I just learned to live with it. Recently, it has started to get worse and it is just driving me crazy!
Has anyone dealt with this kind of thing? Surely there is just some small parts that I can replace to stop the rattle.
Thanks

I've looked around and found a few things in the forums. I am going to try a few of them today and will see what happens. I can't imagine spending the money to replace the whole assembly, but I also can't keep living with this rattle. Rattles drive me nuts.

Is it the assembly itself or wiring between the roof and the felt liner? I have a annoying rattle that happens when I close the sun shade and free up space up there. I've always assumed that there was wiring in there (possibly related to the RES, lights, or sunroof) and I could zip tie it if need be. My crummy hack is just to leave it open all the time.
Side note, has anyone else had rusting issues with their sunroof -- the front-facing portion? Mine has some major bubbling and I assume it was caused from gunk clogging the drains. I try to clean it out from time to time, but that damage is done. It's just weird -- I've never seen other Toyotas with that issue.

Mine had some minor rattling over very rough road surfaces. What cured the noise was lube. I fully opened the roof, then swab all hinges and tracks with multi purpose grease. Voila!

Its not a fix but more of a band-aide. I saw someone from the GXOR FB that just dropped in a few garden hose gasket by the rails so it would stop the rattling. It seemed to work for him
