06 GX 470 TPMS question
I am looking at new wheels for the above model. Dealer is asking $225 for new set of TMPS censors. So my question - do i replace existing tmps w/new ones or can it be moved from the old wheels.
Thank you in advance.

You can move the existing sensors to the new wheels.
Given that your car is 2006, the sensors may run low on battery soon and you'll have to replace them soon. Are they currently working well? If yes, you can move them on the new wheels and hope that they last another 2 years or so. My GX is 2005 and the OEM sensors are still doing fine.
The price they are quoting you seems very high. You can find brand new, cheaper OEM Toyota sensors. Search.

Is $225 installed and configured? If so that's not a bad price. These things go bad and if they are original then there's a good chance they'll go soon. They are also prone to leakage.
I got new wheels and tires for my 06 and didn't bother getting new sensors or reusing the old ones. The orange TPMS sensor light stays lit but does not blink. I can deal with that, if it means saving a couple of hundred dollars.

You'll probably want the TPMS sensors replaced - firstly because of age of their batteries. But also because there's a chance that the stability system might be affected by not knowing the pressure in the tires is OK. (From its point of view - can it effectively brake a wheel if it thinks the tire is flat?)

After I bought my '04 a year ago, two of my sensors went out and I replaced them. Two weeks later another two went out so I disabled the system entirely. There is a thread on here describing how to do it. One of the best things I have done. No issues with the stability system.
