2006 GX-470 Transmission Replacement
I have a 2006 GX-470 that had been a real joy to own and drive. For my work I needed a car for extended period when I went for work in Costa Rica so I shipped the car there 3 years ago. Lexus brand came to Costa Rica about 3 years ago, under the local Toyota Dealership.
Last fall, 2016, a colleague of mine tried to shift into four-wheel drive mode improperly and damaged the transmission. I brought it to Lexus/Toyota service center for diagnosis and repair. It has now been in their shop since November 2016. After paying for new transmission box, ne 4-wheel drive transfer case, torque converter and service time and 4 false alarms that car was fixed and then returned to service center, estimated $18000 out-of pocket, they have not been able to complete the repair.
Is there a Lexus Japan International Service Contact we could reach who could help the Costa Rican Service Center to fix this. I am quite upset and may not buy another Lexus, atlas for use in Costa Rica because of lack of capable service.

I would talk to the local Jeep owners for a recommendation to a four-wheel-drive shop. While the parts are specific to Toyota/Lexus, the process of replacing them is like any other 4WD.

I would just call corporate. A lexus is a lexus. Very close to Toyota. I would be blowing up every number possible! If it is a certified dealer, they have to have representation. Chip has a good point! I hope you paid with a credit card and took notes! To dispute the charges! $18000 for that you could of hade everything dropped and replaced! OUCH! Fight this and dont stop until you get every penny back. I know its a headache!Start by asking who the area rep is for that location. They will give you that info.
