Default Rear height sensors

Hi, I have a 2004 GX the sensor height off light started blinking and have a bouncy ride. Was reading at similar post and seems the problem is with the rear height sensors. Are these sensors easy to replaced? Is there a manual of how to change these sensors? Any help will be appreciated.

It's more common for the air bag(s) to leak. Park your vehicle on level ground, set it to the high position, and leave it for a weekend. Come back and see if the back end has settled any. Measure from the hub of a wheel to the lip of the fender so that tire inflation differences aren't included. Do this on both sides.

But changing the sensor isn't hard - they have a connector and just bolt to the frame. I think adjusting them afterwards is the challenge. There might be a PDF in one of the stickied threads.

Thanks for the response, the thing is the height sensor is stuck in Neutral and don't change to H or L.

When you push the switch to go to High, do you hear the pump run? And when you push it to go to Low, do you hear the valve open and air be let out? (with the vehicle's height changing appropriately?)

One of my sensors seized. Aisen replacements cost about $40 and can be replaced in 5 minutes. As others have said, make sure the bags aren't leaking before assuming the sensors are bad.

Once you replace the sensors and/or airbags consider adjusting the sensor to raise/lower the rear height. I always felt that even with good shocks the rear was a bit too soft. After a bump I would feel the rear of the GX make a rather exaggerated "blop" as it basically felt like it was bottoming out. The simple fix is to take the threaded nut that connects the sensor to the base an adjust it higher so it puts some more air into the bags. The system will still think your in Normal height and still allow you to raise/lower it without error. This will help with rear suspension stability and reduce that suspension blop as it compresses.

If possible bring it to the dealer and have it diagnosed. If it is the sensor it is easy to replace yourself

Where did you find the sensors for $40. That is wonderful if they are still available! Thanks,

Sorry I completely messed that one up. I went back and checked and it was $142.79. They're available from Rockauto currently for 147.79, so they've gone up a bit. It was very quick to replace though.

Mine had completely seized from corrosion, there was no saving it (believe me I tried). Also the bracket had cracked from being forced to move while seized.

I just pulled the sensors off my GX a few weeks ago - if anybody needs 'em, make an offer. They were pulled from my 05 at 185,672 miles - it's an AZ truck, so they aren't seized at all.

Thanks for that update. It saved me a significant amount to time trying to find replacements at a very low price. Of course at the $140 plus I wish they could find cheaper. Thanks for the update.
